I've been on this list for a little while, absorbing as much info as I can, along with what I've researched on the net and in the library. I'm convinced of the health benefits for me of paleo eating from my short stints of it. However, because my life has been such a whirlwind lately, convenience has outweighed the rational side of my brain. I haven't been consistent, and that makes it difficult as I know the more consistent I am, the fewer cravings I have. I have never been a dieter, so it's not all that easy for me to say "no". So what I thought I'd do is start a thread of what I've eaten through the day so I can have some accountability. Feel free to comment. I'm doing this only for the health benefits, not weight loss (mainly prevention of acne, plus a tendency to get lots of moles & other strange growths on my body that I'm convinced are sugar/grain related as well as prevention of syndrome X diseases). I unfortunately cannot afford to eat organic/grass fed etc. all the time as I'm trying desperately to pay off old credit card debt, and will be for a long time :( .

My main concerns are elimination of wheat (the very most important), refined sugar, rice, potatoes, and other cereal grains. I will have limited amounts of dairy--I'm a daughter & granddaughter & great granddaughter (&so on & so forth) of dairy farmers of Scandinavian background, so I won't give up dairy completely. I know the arguments and I know my own experience with it, but I'm just putting that out there.

So without further adieu, here's what I ate yesterday:

Walnuts
Strawberries
Shaved beef
Homemade beef soup with carrots & onions
watermelon
hard boiled free range organic egg
6 oz of pure apple juice
6 oz of chocolate milk

I know it's not 100% paleo, but it is a great, great improvement for me, and I feel better today already.
