Habib,
The three rebel groups came together yesterday and issued a warning to the
french troops that another intrusion into rebel territory will be considered as
an act of war. However, behind the posturing, concerted efforts are underway
from ECOWAS, UN and France, to extract concession from Gbagbo. In fact, it has
just been announced on BBC that Gbagbo has suggested another peace proposal
which entails another Government of National Unity and a referendum on the
nationality issue which is the core of the problem. One of the rebel groups has
just reacted to the proposal as another 'diversion from Gbagbo'. It appears
that
we are in it for the long haul, I appears.
I was going to update Yusupha in my previous post on progress by Air Senegal
International (ASI). Yesterday, the company added two lastest model Boeing 747s
to their fleet. They orgainsed a maiden flight to Cap Skerring with the usual
pump; immediately followed by announcement from Government that ASI has been
designated as the official carrier for this year's HAJJ. The company has
slowly
and quietly replaced the defunct Air Afrique
Happy Holiday Season and please extend my greetings to our daughter and
'Baddiboungka' goro. I hope to see both Amira and Ahmed this time around in
Banjul. I also see Hamouday.
Sidi Sanneh
