Everyone needs help disabled or not and there is nobody totally independent.
There are many people with disabilities that fight so much to do basic things
which makes it hard to ask and receive help. As a person with a disability I
try to do certain things on my own but I know I need help in lifting heavy bags
of food or climbing a ladder because I do not have great balance. Sometimes
we, as disabled people want to be so independent we do not ask or want to
receive help from anyone. We believe we are giving up our right to be independent
when asking for help and this is wrong. Many of us may also feel that we don't
want to be considered lazy or playing on our disability. Please do not feel
embarrassed or ashamed when you truly need help.
