I would recommend the Kenwood THF6A HT. It transmits on 2 meters, 220, and
440, and has quite a good receiveing frequency range beyond the ham bands.
I think they now go for something like $299.
Lots of us on the list have the THF6A, because of the direct frequency
entry, and the user-friendly menus.
