I understand what you are thinking here, but if I turn the power supply off,
the rig shuts off, and can't be turned on again till the power supply
connection is un-plugged, and the radio is back to full battery operation.
This is why I thought it wouldn't hurt anything if I ran the rig as a base
station with the battery still in the radio.

This is definitely an issue worth looking into, and I think I'll give
Kenwood a call.

What's the best number for Kenwood?  Is it 1-800-kenwood, or would another
number work better?
