Hi Ken,

I've just finished uninstalling and reinstalling about three of these
critters and there is no extension on them. There is a small adhesive pad
to stick it to the board in the radio and a small square connection which
fits a similar connection on the board. I can't remember which one is male
and which female but it just plugs onto the board with no grief at all.

I hope this all turns out ok for you but I think you may have damaged your
board. Either that or you are mistaking the UT-102 for the UT-106.

IN either case, good luck and very 73.

Kevin, K7RX :)

Subject: IC-718 and UT-102 speech board

Hello, I just bought a used IC-718 and I am trying to install the UT-102
speech board. No matter what we try to do, it doesn't seem to fit.
There seems to be a diode on the main board that is in the way. Also
the connector for the DSP seems to be in the way. Anyone had any
problems installing the speech unit? BTW, we did remove the small
extension that comes with the ut-102.

Thanks, Ken - N5SWR
