HI Tom.  Usually, you will also have a function that will togal the tone
itself on and off.  You will have to find that function and make sure it
is turned on, just setting the tone frequency won't necisarily mean that
the PL tone is turned on.  If you have PL decode as well, the function
will togal you through off, encode and encode decode.  Hope this makes
