I think you may have misunderstood my intent when answering the post.

This person was asking a question due to the fact I don't think he
understood how to format a drive which I believe was the underlying question
at hand.
FDISK is not a simple tool and if one doesn't know what they are doing, they
can make a mess of things. It is a utility that should be used with caution
much like editing the Registry. Here again, you can do irreversible damage.
On occasion I will use FDISK when repairing a system that may have a MBR
virus or some other corrupt factor. I will also use this utility to wipe out
the MBR intentionally to get a really clean install of the OS.

http://www.freepctech.com which is called, "MS Windows XP System setup disk"
Note: Playing with partitions is a risky job! Use this program only
if you know what you're doing! Be sure to read the documentation!
