I'm digesting all of the witticisms, and just checking in to say "yes". 

Uh, oh!  Several fire trucks went screaming by, which should at least
mean they are not heading to my house across the street from the one
that burned a couple weeks ago.  They say that over 90% of fire
department responses are for medical emergencies, not fires.  The fire
department has its problems, including lack of money, lack of
leader/chief, and apparently too few fires to justify full time staff.
Ironic, I guess.
