This sounds to me like a couple of possibilities - all in the bios setup.
First, make sure that you have the PCI enabled in the Integrated
Peripherals section (IDE0 needs to be enabled.)
Second, make sure your Hard Drive is set up to Auto-detect in the
Standard CMOS Features.
Lastly, make sure that you have the boot order specified to start with
HDD-0 (not HDD-1) in the Advanced CMOS Features.
