You'll find that if you right mouse the 'Disconnect' checkbox, it'll tell
you that this option is for SCSI devices only, which I doubt that you have.
So by all means uncheck it.  But if it comes back, leave it alone, it won't
affect your PC.

As Fazal said, check your cables.  You might also check the drive jumpers to
see if it's set as a slave or a master.  However, CD drives, like all other
equipment, don't last for ever, and do occasionally fail for no apparent
reason. Perhaps this time has arrived.
