Hello Ron, It could be totally unrelated but it sure sounds like similar
problems with had with several HP 5200 scanners. The scanners had been
working just fine on USB and then one by one just stopped working. It was
about the time we upgraded the OS to W2000 so we were thrown off thinking it
was a driver problem. HP was of very little help (even though I suspect
they knew what the problem was.) We couldn't load the drivers properly, if
the drivers did load properly the scanners didn't work through the USB, but
the drivers loaded fine and the scanners worked fine when we tried
parallel... Just before giving up and tossing them we thought maybe there
might be a weak USB power problem... and so it was - we hooked each of them
to their own self-powered USB hub and all began to work flawlessly once
again. Worth a try. HTH, Anthony
