Hi,

It would be prudent to do a backup of the files and drivers you need first,
in any case, before you try anything.

What you would want to try is to bypass the first setup command in the root
directory of the CD and go to the win98 directory and run the setup from
there.  It will either work or come up with a message that windows can't
continue.

If you are running win95 and you are not in the large disk enabled mode
(FAT32), is there a particular reason you would not want to do a wipe
(fdisk) and reload, enabling the FAT32 mode?  If you can do that, then you
can still get Win98se full install.  It will be around till next June and
then MS will kill it.

You would be better off backing up the files and drivers you need from your
disk, and installing the Win98 from scratch.  Your sector size would be
smaller, allowing the drive to hold more files and be more efficient.  You
would not have a lot of extra files on the disk that you do not need.

With the price of drives being at an all time low and the abundance of used
drives out and about, you may want to condider getting a good used drive
that you can install the Win 98 on and then run the orginal drive as a
slave to access yuor files and drivers that you may need.

Running the Fat32 creation after you install the Win 98 can lead to
problems if the machine lost power while trying to do the conversion for
instance.
