hmmmm, wish i'd kept that as a note or file. Well, basicly, the big
plusses for the icom are it is much better on tv, blows the kenwood away
on tv channels, not sure why. Also, the icom can access even an empty
memory with the keypad, so it is easy to program any memory you want
easily. Also, it does have the cw readout. As far as i'm concerned, that
is about the only plusses, unless you would rather have six versis 220.
The things the kenwood has over the icom are, kenwood has ssb. Kenwood
covers higher frequencies, kenwood beeps in menus and at memory 0. The
icom menues do not role over, so you can keep turning the knob and get to
a known point, but no beeps. Also, icom charges much more for their
assessories, examples. Kenwood dc power cord for lighter, $35.00 Icom's
price $45.00 Kenwood case with beltclip $15. Icom's price for just a
small case $25. Icom charges for their software $15, Kenwood's is
downloadable. Icom charges $45 for their programming cable, Kenwood
charges $35.
Has anyone used the icom software with speech, particularly window-eyes?
I'm curious whether or not it would talk. Kenwood software is very
accessable. Think that is all I wrote.
