Dear Brittney,

My company, Cloudworld, has been developing software for helping
children to learn to read. The technology is suitable for children
with special needs both as a teaching tool and a reading aid.
Our first product, WordAloud, combines word-at-a-time display with
speech, and is designed to be accessible by visually impaired people.
Download an evaluation copy from http://www.cloudworld.co.uk.

WordAloud has been used for one-to-one tuition, but can also be
used in a class setting with multimedia presentation. By reading
text off the screen, WordAloud is said to "transfix the class"
by one teacher, who uses it in his geography lessons. BTW, he won
a teacher of the year award last year for his use of technology
in the classroom. See our web site for details.

We are currently collaborating with a phonics expert to
produce a program which will take a child all the way from
letter recognition to reading at speed. He has been using
WordAloud in conjunction with his own software, Top Marks, to
help children with reading difficulties.

Regards,

John
