Denis,
Is there a way to "turn-off" XP's speech input feature so that there are no possible conflicts?

It might also depend on the version of Word. I've used DNS 4.0 with
Word versions through 2000 without difficulty, but Word XP has speech in
it, and isn't compatible with outside speech input systems, at least as
of late betas.

I've not used DNS 6.0, but I understand that it is *not* a great leap
forward in compatibility.
