Hi,

There have been discussions about this before on this list.

In socket 370:
Original Celeron (66mhz)had 0 cache (up to 333mhz), then 128
(300-766mhz/66mhz, >800mhz 100mhz), and now 256 cache(>1gig still
100mhz)

The Pentium II had 512 cache (66 or 100 bus) and the pentium III went to
256 cache (100 or 133 bus). The difference was the 256 cache ran at the
core speed because it was internal to the CPU and the Pentium 2 cache
was external)

In the P4 Socket N (socket W no longer made)
Celerons have 128 cache (400 mhz bus)

The Pentium 4 varies between 256 and 512 (400mhz or 533 mhz) The 533
mhz P4 cpu all have 512 cache.

Personally, not being a gamer or having a real need for speed, I have
used the Celerons since they were first available. I try and keep my
personal expenditure for CPU's to always less than $100, because sooner
or later they fall down to that price point. I may purchase a higher
end board for it so as to have the capability to change CPU's later. I
do a lot of e-mail and use STB program for work and am using the 845pesv
Intel board and a celeron 1.8.

Thanks and have a Great Day!

Joe Lore
