If these people had four other children, children who have grown
normally, they should have had enough experience to see that this
fifth baby was not growing normally.  Even if they didn't believe in
going to doctors, you'd think they would have asked *someone* for
advice - maybe a dietary or spiritual guru.  If they didn't notice
that the kid was waaaay too small for her age, or if they noticed but
didn't bother to go to anyone at all for help, I'd certainly call them
neglectful.  Whether their actions - or lack thereof - had anything to
do with their diets and whether the baby's stunted growth had anything
to do with her diet are entirely separate questions.  That there was
neglect is certain if they sought no help at all until that 911 call.

IMHO...
