Getz: While new drivers are being developed all the time for WINMODEMS under Linux I have always
found for Linux that a good external (hardware) modem is best.

You can see what is happening, and it will free a PCI slot.

Often Linux will not automatically detect a external modem so you will have to 'point' the OS to it.
This is no big deal and we can easily help you here.

Get an external modem with a serial connection.
