I had similar symptoms with a CTX monitor, but it would black out and come
back on by itself after a few seconds. After a couple of days of this, it
went off and refused to come back on. I took it to a repair shop and they
told me that there is a common problem with many CTX monitors which cause
this. Unfortunately, I do not recall what exactly the problem was, but it
was not the switch or the power supply. I believe it was due to a solder
joint breaking down and eventually causing some components to fail. It
cost me $80 to repair it and it is still working fine after 18 months.
