Hi again group. I now have an Intel D854PEBT2 motherboard that includes
SATA hard drive RAID support. What I did not realize is that there are
no SATA interface drives available yet! Actually, I did not know what
SATA meant till I bought the drive. For others who may not be familiar
with the term, it means Serial ATA - this is a new, high speed hard
drive interface to upgrade the present ribbon cable style.
In any case, I now need to buy a PCI card to do ATA133 RAID. Any
recommendations? I have found a low cost board based on the Silicon
Image Sil0860 chip, an Adaptec RAID 1200A, a HighPoint RocketRAID, and a
Koutech Ultra ATA/133 board.
Any of you use such RAID boards? Suggestions - experiences - are they
worth it? I have a pair of Western Digital 80G 8MB buffer 7200RPM WD800
drives that are eager to perform!
Thank you for any help.
Peter
