Can you check whether both the data cable and power cable are still connected to the CD and are intact?
Best wishes. M. A. Fazal

I have a strange problem with my CD-Rom. My Dell is just over a year =
old and was fully operational until one day when the CD drive just would =
not work. I noticed it first with an audio cd but it will not recognize =
any cd. Even though the system tells me that the drive is working =
properly, it also says that the cd drive is empty. The OS is Windows =
ME.

I am afraid that my grandson may have changed some settings but he says =
he did not. Oddly enough, in the properties I found that it was marked =
disconnect. I removed the check mark but when I looked the next time it =
would not work, it was re-marked disconnect.

I would appreciate any suggestions.
