Unless you are sensitive to dairy because of an allergy or intolerance (I
know, I know, some on this board believe that humans all have an intolerance
to the milk of other mammals but the fact remains that some primitive
cultures which were mentioned in a recent post consume dairy albeit raw with
no problems) try limiting the dairy to tiny amounts such as no more than 2 oz
per day. Also, cottage cheese and yogurt contain more lactose (milk sugar)
which can also cause big-time bloat. Try just 2 oz of raw cheese (Health
Valley brand makes several varieties and it can be found in large regular
grocery stores as well as most health food stores) and see if it makes a
difference. Also, fat around the stomach is usually indicative of insulin
resistance which tends to increase with age. Try going more low-carb paleo
ie omit or greatly reduce fruit to see if that may help. Finally, don't go
overboard with nuts. I know some here can snarf them down with abandon but
for many of us, especially women, they are so calorically dense that they can
cause weight gain.
