Hi y'all!
I tell ya, things have not been good for me, physically, of late. I won't
go into the list of non-CP stuff, but I would like to send out a general
question on a spasticity related issue.
Like many of us, as a kid I had numerous Z-plastys on my achilles tendon
(heel-cord lengthening). In '96 my achilles tore completely in two as a
result of vigorous exercise. That was a couple inches above the bottom of
the tendon, but now I have a problem where the achilles attaches to the
talus (heel bone).
I was goofing around with the kids last night, probably playing too hard,
and I woke up around 2 am in great pain. There is a "ball" of tender,
swollen tissue at the base of the tendon. This area is about 2 cm.
circumference. Has anyone experienced anything like this?
I'm afraid that the tendon is tearing again, but since I'm leaving for an
out-of-country vacation the day after tomorrow, I can't get in to see my
orthopedist.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. It might just be tendinitis,
but since the area is so tender I can't use my AFO to "lock" my ankle in
place.
Kyle
