That was by Pres. Roosevelt's proclamation. Some holidays like Xmas , St.
Patrick's Day, Valentine's Day, etc. can't be moved about easily due to
tradition. Anniversaries are not easily moved; no one remembers the
original day of the week of the week the attack on Pearl Harbour happened,
but everyone remembers the date - Dec. 7, 1941.
