Harvey:
I am facing the same issue soon, and am wondering the same things.
I haven't received my notice of the need to renew my license yet from W5YI,
but should receive it soon.
My personal feeling is that I might just pay the $6, and let the folks at
W5YI do it. That way, I know everything is done, and I don't have to worry
about missing something along the way.
Handi-hams also will help members with license renewals, so if you are a
member, that might be another way to go.
As for snailmail vs. on-line renewals, I don't know the answer for sure, but
I bet the on-line way to renew is faster.
Will be interested in what the others have to say.
