Hi Jim, First of all, there is not much you can do to screw the rig up so
not much to worry about. To select auto tuner first push in middle of three
buttons above mic. This is to have auto tuner inline. The button to the
right of that button will start the tuner spinning and searching for low
swr. Usually fairly quick but if swr is above 2.5 to 2.7 to 1 it will just
keep spinning and if it takes more than 30 seconds you can be sure that swr
is too high. The modes are changed by pushing one of the buttons on top row
to left of tuning knob. I believe in order they are LSB, usb, cw etc. They
will send a letter in cw for the mode selected so easy to tell. For memory
first find the freq. you wish to put into memory. On bottom row to left of
tuning knob you push the center button twice. This will enter current freq.
into memory. The far left button, just to the left of button you pushed will
let you access the memories. You can either hit that button and then enter
00 through 99 on keypad or can turn tuning knob to go through them. The
button on left, just above the memory access button will let you continue
tuning from the frequency you have in memory. Another words, if you have
14.200 in memory, you can push this button and can start tuning up from
14.200. i would often have band edges programmed in memory and then use them
to tune up from edge. Hope this answers a few of those questions without
making things more confusing. Dave W4CI
