plenty wrong with cruciferous veges, specifically goitrogens, binding
iodine.
oxalic acid in spinach which binds calcium. so spinach is a mixed bag,
because it is high in folate.
take any vege you like..what's in it? antioxidants are generally much
better in berries, and herbs like rosemary, sage, oregano.

but what
are these other vegetables you have in mind that don't "contribute
worthwhile amounts of anything" and/or which "contribute allergenic and
antinutritional compounds"? Can you give us some examples?
I make a salad each and every evening as part of dinner. I make my salads
with chilled raw spinach leaves because I know spinach is far more nutrient
dense than ordinary lettuce (perhaps lettuce is one of those you believe
does not contribute worthwhile amounts of anything, in which case I would
agree). I include numerous other vegetables in my spinach salad depending on
what I have on hand. I love onions and fresh uncooked broccoli so these two
veggies are almost sure to make it into my salad each evening. Surely you
don't think my spinach salads are unhealthy or non-paleo.
