A good newspaper overview on the present epidemic of obesity, the
commercial interests of the fast food industry - and the muck put in mass
food in the interests of the processors rather than the consumers, a
reference to hunter-gatherer food (sadly wrong), the need for more
exercise, is to be found at:

The journalist makes no concessions to the politically-correct high-carb
hegemony and draws extensively on two US books: Schlosser's Fast Food
Nation and the more recent Fat Land by Greg Critser.  Nor does he pass the
problem over to the doctors and big pharma.
