I wanted to present an idea which was outlined recently
in a local scientific broadcast about diabetes.
Insulin resistance is when cells reduce their insulin receptors, reacting
less to insulin as the "open up" signal.
Insulin wants the cells to start munching on blood
-glucose but also on
-protein and
-fat
I looks like cells (also) react with less receptors (insulin resistance)
when they are overfed in terms of protein and fat.
Hence they are refusing glucose intake if they are full of other main
nutrients (protein and fat). Leading to a vicious circle.
How can the cell overfed state be avoided, or at least be abolished for
a certain time?
Hmm hmm. A fasting day once a week? Definitely paleo.
Longer no-food-pauses of a few hours once and again. Definitely paleo.
It looks cumbersome to struggle with ones glucose metabolism to reduce
insulin if the real close-the-cell-mechanism is determined by an
overfed state in terms of protein and fat.
