You might also say that this is why more terrorists do not target us. Yes, we
are selfish, but how much else do we do for the world.

How did Japan, Germany and UK get rebuilt after WWII?

We are not totally selfish and I am rarely ashamed to be a U.S. citizen. That
global village poppy-cock maybe politicaly correct, but not very pragmatic.
