In past few months I have noticed quite a few people complaining about a restaurant with "hidden" ingredients in salads. One post I read today suggested an employee of a restaurant was sneaking such things into a salad as a test or joke or surprise...

This "problem" could be easily solved by COMMON SENSE. First off, if you need it- get an extra plate and extract it all over there to inspect it all. I take and look very closely before mixing the salad and before ingesting anything. Ask for the dressing to be on the side if needed and not pre-tossed. I will toss all the lettuce in the salad around very carefully looking for anything and I send it back BEFORE a problem occurs. Bring a microscope if necessary. The easy thing to do is look for crumbs where the croutons were before someone pulled them off. Just look closely and send it back if you see a suspicious item. Then ask for another salad.

Let's face it- we are in the minority. The world does not revolve around us. Restaurants are designed to feed the normal people who don't have these problems and we have to live in a real world where real mistakes occur- most of which are accidental not malicious. To blame a whole restaurant chain for such a problem I find offensive. Sure I have gotten sick before and don't trust certain restaurants- but eating out is always risky behavior similar to not using a condom/birth control. So you either abstain and don't eat out ever....or you take the risk each time you eat out and check out everything first.

On the bright side, at least if you make a mistake eating out the pain only lasts a a day, maybe a few days- whereas not using a condom you could get a death sentence like AIDS or an unwanted child with 18 years of support that follows.
