Hello Everyone,

I have received sooooooo many kind, caring, supportive words and ideas from the people on this list concerning this topic! AND such quick responses. too! THANK YOU for all of your wonderful suggestions.

Before attending a party last night, I did exactly what most of you suggested: ate a tasty meal of foods I love, and you know what? I only felt a teeny bit deprived when phyllo-wrapped spinach and cheese goodies were passed in front of my nose.

As noted by many of you, it's important to be aware of contamination issues at parties, especially buffet-style gatherings. BE THE FIRST ONE AT THE BUFFET.

I have checked with relatives about their Christmas menus and they are all happy to accomodate my needs as much as possible. I will definitely be traveling with a cooler of snacks because I know I will also be faced with many gluten-FULL GOODIES. I like the idea of sharing "my" food with them, because most of it IS delicious (except the bread).

The emotionally supportive words helped me alot - I really think I just have to complete a year of being gf so I can mourn each holiday/activity/situation and then get on with life.

Thank you very, very, very much to all the kind, giving people on this list.

All my best, Peggy in NH
