Hi All,
I have had a pair of family radios for a couple of years. They are very
handy. I believe the maximum power is 500 milliwatts but most are
less. Mine runs 300 milliwatts and can transmit about a mile. It is a
Radio Schak model that has a "sleep" mode and will stand-by listening for
about 4 days using 3 double A batteries. We have used them for car to car
communication, hiking, shopping etc. They are nice when wanting to do
radio stuff with non-ham friends.
