I ran into a similar problem
with a client trying to backup his Quicken Data.
Windows XP wouldn't write the backup directly to the D: drive
Neither will Microsoft Excel write directly to the D: drive.
the path to the Cd burning folder is:
C:\Documents and Settings\"User name"\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\CD Burning
replace "user name" with your user name.
Or you can save the files to the C: drive and then save them to the D:
drive.

to the effect that I can't use "d:\backup.bkf" as the pathname ("a:" comes
up as the default path when you use the wizard, but the backup wizard claims
that the backup file will be on the order of 1.6 GB in size,
