Jim,
I have a FirePort40Dual card running under XP, in fact I have run it
since the beta of XP. I have never had any problems with it, XP shows it
listed in the hardware manager as an LSI Logic 53C875/53C876 Device, and
since I have the dual card, it shows two of them. Maybe you can manually
tell XP to use those drivers through the device manager.

(Not sure if this is a hardware or software issue so posting to both)
Well, I decided to make the plunge and "upgrade" my system to Windows XP. I
did most of my homework, including downloading Microsoft's program that
scans your system for XP compatibility. It flagged serveral potential
problems, but gave my fireport40 scsi card (which controls a CDROM and CDRW)
a pass. I installed XP this morning and the fireport is not recognized. I
trolled the internet and found many other expressing the same problem.
There were some posts giving a download, but I was never able to get it to
work (the most promising at driverguide.com). When trying to upgrade the
driver, the system stopped with an error saying the file would not work
because it was from an earlier version of windows (the person who posted the
driver took it from a windows 2000 disk).
Does anyone have any ideas of suggestions for this problem? Diamond (the
maker of the fireport40) no longer sells or supports the item. Microsoft
indicates the adapter is compatible, but not designed for, Windows XP.
TIA
Jim Maki
