Buddy:
Yep, I agree with you on that one. I have had mine for over 2 years now,
with no problem with the SMA (knock on wood).
However, something really weird happened last night with my THF6A.
I had finished running our local ARES net on our 2-meter repeater, and left
the room to go do some computer work. When I got back an hour or so later,
I found the HT to be completely off. I had been running it on my 3-amp DC
regulated power supply. I couldn't turn the radio back on, using the power
supply. I switched over to my two fully-charged battery packs, and couldn't
turn on the radio either. My XYL looked at the screen--completely blank--no
error message or anything.
Then, I plugged the radio in to the supplied Walwart charger, and eventually
got it going with the charger. Disconnected it from the charger--no battery
power. Had to do this several times before the radio started working again
both with the charger, and then the batteries.
Radio is fine now. Works with the power supply, wall charger, and
batteries, but I sure don't know what that was all about.
Oh well--Such is the fun with these modern solid-state rigs.
