Steve and others who have replied thus far,

I was planning on going a four foot square base, unless I could find exactly
what Rohn recommended. If I figured it right, that should be 2.3 yards? I
was going to put up about 45 feet of tower. I am only hanging wires and
antennas and small light weight two meter and 4 50 antennas. I read once
you could go 50 feet with Rohn 25G free standing if you did not go more than
two or three square feet. I had a little larger than a one square yard base
under my 65 foot tower with two sets of guys. But I remember putting it up
and even climbing to the 30 foot level to put the first set of guys on, it
wiggled around a lot. So I'm not all that interested in 50 feet torking
around in the wind even with small antennas on it. My son is building a
house in the backyard and so when they come to pour his basement, driveway,
and double car garage pad, I can get a couple of yards, or more, for a lot
less money. So I am going to dig the hole, slop in a couple of bags of
ready mix, get the first section nice and straight, and then when the truck
comes to pour all his concrete, I can get my base poured. If anybody finds
out differently concerning 25G free standing and the size of the base needed
and the square footage wind load, let me know. Thanks.

Phil.
