Hi,

Check that you have the on board com ports disabled if you have no use for
the serial ports.
worst case if you need a serial mouse leave com 1 enabled for the mouse and
disable com 2

I would then remove the modem from the device manager, and remove com 2
from the com port list, shut the system down, then turn the system back on
and let it find the modem and pnp the com port for the modem
