I came across this in a newsletter, though I can't remember which.

"Want to see if you need a firewall? Go to http://grc.com and click on
the "Shields UP" link. This will allow you to test the security of your
computers connection to the internet."

This might give you an indication about how easy a hacker could get at you network.
