Hi Mary:

I bought a used VX-7R about 2 weeks ago. It is not a radio that a blind person can program easily. It is menu driven. As a person with some sight, I LOVE IT! It has a very viewable screen and I can actually see it at night. It has a very bright display. I have never been able to see any other radio display in the dark.
I did my research and discovered that it is a great radio. Has excellent receive capability and is very rugged. No worry if I fall in a lake as it is waterproof. Let me know if you need any more info.
