Hi,

I have had some limited success in using a 3rd party diagnostic program,
troubleshooter, in low level formating drives that were a problem.

It pretty much will tell me if the drive has severe problems and halt, or
it will go through the process and then make the drive useable again with
no immediate problems.

I would imagine that you can find something similar on the net or from the
drive manufacturer

God Bless America!
