A brief story describes Professor Felix Adler as among the backers of the group

Chris,

Wasn't there an Adler who was involved in the Ethical Culture Society in the early days, and was it Felix or one of his descendants?  Wouldn't surprise me if one of those renegade German Jews went so far as advocating something as modern and progressive as cremation, which is a major no-no among the Hebes.
