Hello, Buddy...your name was given to me by Wayne, K9DI, as a possible
resource for information about computer readers for blind hams.

I am the Secretary-Treasurer of QRP ARCI, and Mike Goins is the editor of
our magazine, the QRP Quarterly.

We have had several inquiries from possible members who are blind and
would like to know if we can make our quarterly magazine available to
them in some more usable format. We would like to do that, but we are
woefully ignorant about what it would take. My first idea was to just
get a scanner, scan the pages and put the result on a web site that could
be accessed by password. Wayne downplayed that idea, saying that screen
readers have a tough time handling "non-standard English" such as
technical radio data. BUT, he doesn't use a screen reader himself, so
I'm not sure if that is just an impression he has gotten or is completely
true.

Anyway, we are looking for a way to make our magazine available, but with
limited resources and a so-far limited number of people who would take
advantage of it, we need to find the least costly but reasonably
effective way of doing it. Any information you can share with us would
be appreciated, and any other resources where we should try to get
information would also be appreciated.

Thanks very much.
