I've been building P4 systems with the .13 micron northwood processors on
the Asus P4S533 motherboards

I was a little leary of the Sis 645 chipset, but it seems to be a really
stable board.
Has more features than you can shake a stick at.
Uses up to DDR-333mhz (PC2700)  memory
Looks like pretty good Linux compatibility:

Folks seem to like this board for stability over on the Asus newsgroup
I've also used the Abit SA7 board on a couple of systems.
both these boards run at 400/533 front side bus speed.
and will run P4 processors at least up to 2.53gig.
I would recommend a board with 533mhz FSB,
seems to be where Intel is heading.
