I have had some odd install problems (and no originally bad drives),
and any problems installing (for me, YMMV), have always been
connected to a bad cache or bad RAM.

I believe some of the versions of FDISK were a little buggy...
I was only saying that just because a drive will not format or
install an OS, it could be other things besides the drive.
(The OS will report disk errors often when the RAM is bad...)

The only "easy way" to figure out some things is by moving them
around and/or substitution...
