You may find that The Paleo Diet by Cordain is helpful to you. For me, I was
turned off by what I consider to be misinformation and/or just plain bad
advice: eat only lean meat (meat fat contains important nutrients and adds
flavor to meat); saturated fat is "artery clogging" (this is just plain
false); it's adviseable to use highly polyunsaturated oils such as flaxseed
oil as a marinade and/or to baste meat (flaxseed oil goes rancid very easily
when subjected to heat and light); you can eat unlimited fruits and
vegetables (this stalls weight loss in many); feedlot meat is "high" in
omega-6 (while it is arguably higher in omega-6 than wild game, it is not as
a whole high in omega 6 -- rather, whether grain fed or grass fed, it
contains primarily high amounts of saturated&monosaturated fat. I lost
weight on this regime but felt increasingly bloated and tired. Plus, I am
one of those people who HATES lean meat/poultry -- for me, the fat is the
best part. Therefore, I could hardly make a lifestyle out of this program
without feeling deprived. However, you may be different, especially if you
like eating lean meats/poultry -- some people like my husband can't stand the
taste of fat on meat and has to remove every speck of visible fat or he won't
eat the meat/poultry.
