Hi Liz,

Thanks for the information -- especially regarding saturated fat. You were
very wise not to have purchased Cordain's book, The Paleo Diet -- I now wish
I had been so wise. I realize that some people have experienced positive
results with Cordain's lean protein and unlimited fruits and veggies regime,
but it was a disaster for me.

Here are some quotes from The Paleo Diet:

Page 116 "If you grill game meat, keep it on the rare side, baste it often
with oil (olive, canola, or flaxseed) or oil-based marinades and it will be
tender."

Page 114: "Tip: Before you cook very lean domestic meats, rub them with
flaxseed or canola oil. This will improve their omega 6 to omega 3 ratio,
add flavor, and help keep them moist during cooking."

"As for lamb, many people mistakenly perceive it to be a lean meat. It's
not; in fact, almost all cuts of lamb contain too much saturated fat and
should be eaten only as an occasional treat during one of your Open Meals.
Remember, lean meat is the key to making this lifelong nutrition plan work
for you."

Page 104: All meats and poultry should be "trimmed of visible fat."

Page 103: "Also, wild bird eggs are nutritionally different from
domesticated chicken eggs; they have higher levels of beneficial omega-3 fat
and lower levels of artery-clogging saturated fat. THis means that you
should limit consumption of eggs to six a week. You should also buy eggs
enriched with omega 3 fats."

Anyway, you get the idea.

Adrienne
