People are still the same creations programmed (hard wired)
for survival: we all have that innate crave for carbs AND
we all would much rather save whatever energy we can. I
don't believe this is laziness; I think it is part of the
survival package. Technology has given us all some pretty
neat things. It is, after all, much less of an energy drain
to simply flip a switch than to make light and heat with a
twirling bow :) But we are not very good at counting the
cost, if indeed we as a species ever were. Riding mowers
beat out power mowers and they win over the old push
mowers. Same with health care - just take a pill and
everything's instantly all better...until the payments start
coming due.
Now when you add that inherent drive for the easy way to the
fact that what information actually reaches Jane and John
Average is that which has some kind of economic value for
somebody..... Oprah has tried a large number of diets and
promoted every one of them. She seems to be nearing the
right track finally. I heard recently that she had decided
to give up the "white stuff" like bread and rice and
potatoes. In the Indian world, we say the difference
between an actual holy (wise or gifted) person and a
"plastic shaman" is how much they charge for their wisdom.
If you have to give money for words or products, run the
other way. I believe this is also true in the "white"
world. I have shared my experiences with paleo eating with
a number of people. Without exception, the first questions
has always been: "How much does it cost?"

ABSOLUTELY!
