To clarify my point (as opposed to the other person's point?) greed is
becoming ingrained because it is rewarded and we are taught that it is
good.  This is opposed to other societies where greed is bad, and there are
considerable sanctions imposed on greedy people.

The reason that humans are different now as opposed to then is societal
conditioning - I didn't think that was particularly radical an idea?
